Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 50. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12.

To begin, ch 13, * join with sl st to form ring, turn ring over, make 3 s c in ring, ch-3 p, s c in ring, ch 4, s c in ring, p as before, 3 s c in ring. Ch 13, turn previous ring over, sl st in 1st st of ch-13 (another ring made), turn, 3 s c in ring just made, p, s c in ring, ch 7, remove hook, insert it back in ch-4 loop which is between the 2 p's of previous s c-loop, draw loop through. Into ch-7 loop make 4 s c, p, s c, p, s c, p, 4 s c. Ch 1, turn work over. Repeat from * for desired length. Break off.

Heading: 1st row: Attach thread to one end of foundation chain, ch 4, * skip 1 ch, d c in next ch, ch 1. Repeat from * across, taking care to keep work flat. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: D c in 1st sp, * ch 1, d c in next sp. Repeat from * across. Break off.
