Occasional Filet Doily Pattern #7134

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 60, 2 balls of White or Ecru.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 14.

When completed, doily measures about 10½ inches in diameter.

Gauge: 8 sps or bls make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at lower edge, ch 30 (to measure about 1½ inches), turn. 1st row: D c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (2 sps made). Repeat from * across (8 sps). Ch 10, turn. 2nd row: D c in 8th ch from hook, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in d c of previous row (2 sps added), 2 d c in next sp, * d c over d c (1 bl made), 2 d c in next sp. Repeat from * 6 more times, d c in 3rd ch of turning ch-8 (8 bls made). Ch 5, d c at base of last d c, ch 5, turn, d c in 3rd ch of ch-5 sp just made. 3rd row: Ch 7, d c in d c (another sp added), 2 bls over next 2 sps, 8 sps over next 8 bls, 2 bls over next 2 sps, ch 5, d c at base of d c just made, turn. Sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 just made (to count as d c), turn. Ch 38, turn. 4th row: On foundation chain just made, make 2 sps, 25 d c (8 bls), 1 sp. Hereafter follow illustration up to first decrease row. Next row: Sl st to 1st d c of bl (1 sp decreased), ch 5, and continue across row to within last sp (another sp decreased). Ch 7, turn. Continue to follow illustration, increasing and decreasing as before, until doily is completed.
