Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" GERMANTOWN WOOL or "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED

36 1-oz. Balls Shade No. 1759 Medium Blue.
11 1-oz. Balls White.
Steel Crochet Hook Size F.

The entire Afghan is worked in s c.

When 2 colors are used carry the 2nd color un¬der sts for the entire row, drawing up the thread being carried to insure its not looping on wrong side. In changing color, pick up the 2nd color when completing the last st of first color.

When color changes at end of row, make the ch 1 to turn with the next color to be used.

With Blue ch 36, turn and with White work 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in next ch, then work 1 s c in each ch in the following manner: 3 s c in Blue, 1 s c in White, 3 s c in Blue, 3 s c in White, 11 s c in Blue, 3 s c in White, 3 s c in Blue, 1 s c in White, 3 s c in Blue, 2 s c in White, ch 1, turn and continue working back and forth according to diagram.

Work 35 Motifs for a 5 x 7 Afghan, and sew or crochet the Motifs together.

EDGE. With Blue work 1 row of s c around Afghan, making 3 s c in each corner.

2nd Row—1 s c in s c, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 s c in next st, continue across side, at corner work 1 s c, ch 1, 1 s c in center st, continue across other 3 sides.

3rd Row—1 s c in 1 ch mesh, ch 1, 1 s c in next mesh, repeat across row, work corners the same as second row and complete row. Repeat 3rd Row 15 times.

19th Row—1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in s c, skip ch mesh and sl st in next s c, continue to corner. At corner work 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c in same space with last sl st made, sl st in next s c and continue around Afghan.
