Materials Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" PEARL COTTON, ARTICLE 90, SIZE 5
2—50 yd. Balls Black.
"STAR" Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton, Article 50.
1 Skein each of White, Blue and Red.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 8.
1—3 or 4-inch Zipper.

Head. Ch 9, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. Work in s c increasing 1 s c at the beginning and end of row, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row. Same as 2nd row.
4th Row. Work same as 2nd row but increase 2 s c at the beginning and end of row.
Next 5 Rows. Work same as 2nd row.
10th Row. Work even in s c, ch 1, turn.
11th Row. Same as 2nd row.
Repeat the last 2 rows twice, then work 3 rows even.
19th and 20th Rows. Same as 2nd row, then work 4 rows even.
25th Row. Decrease 1 s c at the beginning and end of row, ch 1, turn.
26th Row. Same as 25th row, then work 3 rows even.
30th to 35th Row. Same as 25th row, break thread.
Work another section in same manner.
Gusset. Ch 4, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
Repeat the 2nd row, 67 times, break thread.
Ears. Ch 10, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row. Work in s c decreasing 1 s c at the beginning and end of row, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. Same as 3rd row.
5th Row. Work even in s c.
Repeat the 4th and 5th rows twice, break thread.
Embroider face as illustrated. With White, using 6 strands of thread, embroider eyes, mouth and whiskers in outline st.
Embroider a White nose, Blue eye pupils and Red tongue in satin st.
Sew gusset in position having 4 inches at top of head free for zipper.
With White, outline edge in buttonhole st as illustrated.
Work a row of buttonhole sts around ears and sew in position.
Tassel. With Black wind 10 times over two fingers, cut one end, tie in center, then tie about ¼ inch down from top, attach to zipper.
