MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of No. 1 White and No. 43 Dk. Yellow ... A few yards of No. 12 Black. Scraps of No. 48 Hunter's Green ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 ... A bone ring.
FRONT ... Starting at center with Dk. Yellow, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc, increasing 7 sc evenly around—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. Repeat 3rd rnd until there are 189 sts on rnd. Next rnd: Sc in each sc, increasing 3 sc evenly around (192 sts). Break off.
FIRST PETAL ... Attach White to any sc. 1st row: Sc in same place, sc in next 15 sc. Ch 1, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Dec 1 sc—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc—sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 4th row until 3 sc remain. Next row: Work off 3 sc as 1 sc. Break off.
SECOND PETAL ... Attach White to next free sc on last Yellow rnd. Sc in same place and complete as for First Petal. Make 10 more Petals in same manner. With Black embroider Face.
BACK ... Work exactly as for Front, omitting embroidery.

With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach White to beginning of any Petal, and sc closely around each petal. Join and break off.
With Hunter's Green, make a chain 3 inches long. Sc in each ch across. Break off. Fold chain in half and sew to top of pot holder. With Hunter's Green sc closely around bone ring. Join and break off. Sew to top of loop.
