MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 2 balls of No. 10-A Canary Yellow ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 ... A bone ring.
Starting at center of one end, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 5, d tr in ring, (ch 2, holding back on hook the last loop of each d tr, make 2 d tr in ring, thread over and draw through all loops on hook—cluster made) 11 times; ch 2, sl st in first d tr. 2nd rnd: 3 sc in same place as sl st, (3 sc in next sp, sc in next cluster) 5 times; 3 sc in next sp, 3 sc in next cluster, (3 sc in next sp, sc in next cluster) 5 times; 3 sc in next sp. 3rd to 8th rnds incl: Sc in back loop of each sc, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3 sc group. 9th rnd: Ch 5, holding back on hook the last loop of each d tr, make 2 d tr in same place as last sc, and 3 d tr in center sc of next 3 sc group, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint d tr cluster made); * ch 10, make another joint cluster by making a 3 d tr cluster in same place as last cluster, skip 5 sc, cluster in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with cluster in same place as first cluster, ch 10, sl st in tip of first cluster. 10th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, 10 sc in each sp and sc in tip of each joint cluster around. 11th and 12th rnds: Sc in back loop of each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc at each end. 13th to 22nd rnds incl: Sc in back loop of each sc around. 23rd rnd: Ch 4, make a 2 tr cluster in same place as last sc, ch 4, 2 tr in tip of last cluster, ch 4, sc in same place as first cluster and in next 10 sc, * ch 9, 2 tr cluster in 5th ch from hook, 3 tr cluster in same place as last sc, ch 4, 2 tr cluster in tip of last cluster, ch 4, sc in same sc as last cluster was made and in next 10 sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 9, 2 tr cluster in 5th ch from hook. Join to top of starting ch-4. 24th rnd: Ch 4, 2 tr cluster in same place, * ch 5, sc between next 2 clusters, ch 5, cluster between next 2 clusters. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in tip of first cluster. 25th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 10, sc in tip of next cluster. Repeat from * around. Join. 26th rnd: Sc in each sc and each ch around. 27th to 30th rnds incl: Sc in back loop of each sc around. 31st rnd: * Sc in back loop of next 3 sc. ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Make another piece the same way.

Sc closely around bone ring and sew in place.
