Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED, Article W11
1-1 ¼ oz. Skein White.
1-1 ¼ oz. Skein Blue.
2 Small Bells.
Bone Crochet Hook #4.
Work Soles #1, working one section White and one in Blue.
With White, crochet the 2 soles together with a row of s c, inserting an inner sole if desired, break yarn.
Upper section directions are given for size 5, sizes 7 and 9 are given in brackets.
With White side of sole towards you, attach Blue at instep by slipping needle under the loops of 2 s c, pull yarn through and work a ch st. Start Star st, ch 3, insert needle in second st from hook, pull loop through, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, insert needle in next s c, pull loop through, insert needle in next s c, pull loop through yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on needle, ch 1, (the ch 1 is termed the eye of the st). * pick up and pull loop through the eye of the star st just made, side loop of star st, next 2 s c, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * all around, join to 1st star st.
2nd Round—Ch 3, turn, pick up the 2nd and 1st st of ch, side of star st, eye of next star st, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1. * pick up eye of star st, side of star st just made, top of star st of previous row, eye of next star st in previous row, yarn over and pull through all loops on needle, ch 1, repeat from * all around, join. With White without turning, work 1 round same as last round, break yarn.
4th Round—Attach Blue in 8th st from center toe pattern. Work around heel working 1 star st in each star st, leaving 7 star sts free at opposite side of toe, ch 6, join to 1st star st of 4th round.
5th Round—Ch 3, work 1 star st in each star st and 3 star sts on the ch 6. Work 4, (4-6) more rounds alternating White and Blue.
VAMP—With Blue, ch 4 and work 3 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row.
2nd Row—2 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in last s c, drop Blue.
3rd Row—Attach White and work 1 s c in each s c.
4th Row—2 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in each s c, with 2 s c in last s c.
Work 4, (4-6) more rows the same as 3rd and 4th rows alternating 2 rows Blue and 2 rows White, break yarn. Place Vamp in position and sew in place leaving 1 star st pattern at each side free. With White, ch 20, attach to center top of slipper, * ch 1, s c in eye of next star st, repeat from * all around, join and chain 20, break yarn. Attach bells at ends and tie in bow.
