MATERIALS—DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30:—15-halls White. Cream or Ecru. Lily MERCROCHET Cotton may be substituted if preferred. Crochet hook No. 13. Linen or rayon 2" wider and longer than size of table, plus 1-yd. more.

BLOCK—(Size—10½" x 12½")—Make a chain 14" long. Dc in 15th ch from hook, (ch 5, sk 5 sts of long ch, dc in next ch) 14 times (15 long sps made), ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch, (ch 5, sk 5 ch, dc in next ch) 15 times. Cut and rip excess chain. ROW 2—Ch 8, turn, sk 1st sp, dc in next dc, (ch 5, dc in next dc) 14 times, ch 2, dc in next dc, (ch 5, dc in next dc) 14 times, ch 5, sk 5 ch of end sp, dc in next ch. Mark right side of this row as right side of Block. Repeat Row 2 twice. ROW 5—Ch 8, turn, dc in next dc, (ch 5, dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 2, 3 dc in left half of next long sp, dc in next dc, (5 dc in next long sp, dc in next dc) 3 times (7 blks made), 7 long sps, 1 sp, 7 long sps, (5 dc in next long sp, dc in dc) 3 times, 3 dc in half of next long sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, 4 long sps. ROW 6—Ch 8, turn, dc in next dc, 2 long sps, ch 2, 3 dc in left half of next long sp, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) 7 times, 5 dc in next long sp, dc in dc, 2 long sps, ch 2, 3 dc in left half of next long sp, dc in next dc, 5 dc in next long sp, dc in next dc, 3 dc in half of next long sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, 1 long sp, 1 sp, 1 long sp, ch 2, 3 dc in left half of next long sp, dc in next dc, 5 dc in next long sp, dc in dc, 3 dc in half of next long sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, 2 long sps, 5 dc in next long sp, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) 7 times, 2 dc in next sp, dc in dc, 3 dc in half of next long sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, 3 long sps. ROW 7—Ch 8, turn, dc in next dc, 2 long sps, 1 blk, 11 sps, 1 blk, 1 sp, 1 long sp, 1 blk, 4 sps, 1 blk, 1 long sp, 1 sp, 1 long sp, 1 blk, 4 sps, 1 blk, 1 long sp, 1 sp, 1 blk, 11 sps, 1 blk, 3 long sps. Continue, following Chart, thru Row 71. Edge—Ch 3, turn, 4 dc in 1st dc, * (5 dc in next long sp, dc in dc) repeated across with 2 dc in center ch-2 sp, 5 dc in 6th st of end sp, 2 dc in bal. of sp, (dc between sps, 2 dc in next sp) repeated across, 5 dc in corner st. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of ch-3. Fasten off. Make 10 Blocks for Border.

CENTERPIECE—Make 2 Blocks thru Row 71. Sew tog. by long sides, exactly matching rows, then work Edge around 2-Block pieces. Repeat for other end of Center.

Stretch and pin Block right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth. Cut a piece of linen 1" larger than top of table. Baste the two Centerpieces crosswise in center 10" apart. Hem edge of crochet down closely. Cut cloth ¼" inside stitching, turn edge back against crochet and hem down on back of dc-Edge Row. Following Chart, arrange Blocks around cloth for Border. Connect top corners of Blocks (edge of table) and bottom corners (edge of tablecloth) with chains, then make dc in each ch st. Hem inner edge of Border down on linen and finish as for Centerpiece. Fit a piece of linen between all Blocks and finish in same way.

EDGE—Join to one corner, ch 11, dtr in same st, (ch 4, dtr) 5 times in same st, sk 6 dc, holding back the last lp of each tr on hook, make 3 tr in next dc, thread over and draw thru all lps on hook (Cluster made), * sk 6 dc, dtr in next dc, (ch 4, dtr) 3 times in same dc, sk 6 dc, a 3-tr Cluster in next dc. Repeat from * around with a 7-dtr shell in each corner. Join with sl st in 7th ch of ch-11. ROW 2—(4 sc in next ch-4, sc in dtr, ch 5, sl st in last sc for a p) 5 times, * 4 sc in next sp, sc in Cluster between shells, (4 sc in next sp, sc in dtr, a p) twice. Repeat from * around, with each corner like 1st one. Join and fasten off. Steam and press cloth dry on back thru a cloth.
