Single Crochet Calot Pattern #1158

MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 1 ball of White or Ecru, or 2 balls of any color.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.

GAUGE: 13 sts make 2 inches; 13 rnds make 2 inches.

Use double thread throughout.

   Starting at top, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join rnds. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each st around (14 sts). 3rd rnd: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around (21 sts). 4th rnd: * Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around (28 sts).
   Continue thus, increasing 7 sts evenly on each rnd until piece measures 6 inches in diameter. Now work straight without increasing until piece measures 5½ inches from top. Next rnd: Work sl st in each st around, being careful to keep desired headsize. Fasten off.
   Divide lower edge evenly into 7 parts and mark with pins. * With 3 strands of thread, work a row of sl sts from one pin mark to center of crown to form a ridge. Fasten off. Repeat from * around. With 3 strands make a chain 5 inches long. Tie one end into a knot and sew knot to center of crown.
