Starting at center with Yellow, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 5, * dc in ring, ch 2. Repeat from * 6 more times. Join last ch-2 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-5 first made (8 sps). 2nd rnd: Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, * 3 dc in next sp, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2. Join to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 4th rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 2. FIRST RING … With Maroon, ch 20. 1st rnd: 30 sc in ring. Join and break off. 2nd rnd: Attach Yellow and sc in next 14 sc, sl st in center sc of any loop on center, sc in each remaining sc on ring. Join and break off.

SECOND RING … Starting at center ch 20, draw ch through last ring made. Join with sl st. 1st rnd: 30 sc in ring. Join and break off. 2nd rnd: Attach Yellow, sc in next 15 sc, sl st in center sc of next loop on center, sc in each remaining sc around. Join and break off.
   Make 27 more rings, joining them as Second Ring was joined to First Ring and center. Join last ring to previous ring and first ring made. Next rnd: Skip 14 sc on any ring, attach Maroon to next sc, sc in same place, * ch 7, skip 14 sc on next ring, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. Following 2 rnds: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off at end of last rnd.
   Slip over asbestos mat and draw 2 strands of thread or a piece of narrow elastic through last loop row. Tie ends securely to fit mat.
