Sacque, Kimono and Bootees Pattern #5302

Infant Size

MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Baby Wool, 4 balls (¾ oz. balls) for Sacque; 5 balls for Kimono; 1 ball for Bootees … Bone Crochet Hook No. 3 … 2 yards of ribbon, ½ inch wide.

GAUGE: 1 shell and 1 dc make 1 inch; 2 rows make 1 inch.

SACQUE OR KIMONO

Starting at lower edge, ch 147 to meas­ure 25 inches. 1st row: In 6th ch from hook make 2 dc, ch 1 and 2 dc (shell made), * skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, skip 2 ch, in next ch make 2 dc, ch 1 and 2 dc (another shell made). Repeat from * across, ending with skip 2 ch, dc in last ch (24 shells with dc be­tween). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: * Shell in ch-1 sp of next shell, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 7 inches for Sacque, or 14 inches for Kimono.
   For Right Front, work across until there are 6 shells, dc in next dc. Ch 3, turn. Work in pattern across this set of sts only until piece measures 9 inches for Sacque, or 16 inches for Kimono, ending at inner edge. Ch 3, turn. Next row: Work across until there are 3 shells, dc in next dc. Ch 3, turn. Work in pattern across this set of sts only until piece measures 11 inches in all for Sacque, or 18 inches for Kimono. Break off.
   For Back, skip next shell, attach yarn in next dc, ch 3 and continue across until there are 10 shells, dc in next dc. Ch 3, turn and work over these sts only until piece measures same as Right Front. Break off.
   For Left Front, skip next shell, at­tach yarn in next dc, ch 3 and work across remaining 6 shells, dc in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn and work to correspond with Right Front. Break off. Sew shoulder seams. With right side facing, attach yarn at neck edge of Right Front, ch 4, * skip ¼ inch of neck edge, dc in edge. Repeat from * along neck edge. Do not break off but work edging along entire outer edge as follows: Sc in side of last dc, ** skip ¼ inch on edge, 5 dc in edge, skip ¼ inch, sc in edge. Repeat from ** around entire edge excluding neck edge. Break off.

SLEEVES—Wristband … Ch 9. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in back loop of each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece meas­ures 4 inches. Ch 1 and work 33 sc along edge of Wristband. Ch 3, turn. Next row: * Skip 1 sc, shell in next sc, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn and continue in pattern until piece measures 8 inches in all. Break off. Sew sleeve seams and sew sleeves in. Press through damp cloth. Run 1 yard of ribbon through beading at neck.

BOOTEES

TOE PIECE … Ch 10. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in 2nd sc and in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each dc and in top st of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 2nd rows. Do not ch 1 at end of last row. Ch 35 for ankle, sl st in first st at beginning of last row. Break off.

FOOT … Attach yarn in center st of ch-35 (center back). 1st rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place where yarn was at­tached, sc in next 17 ch, work 8 sc along side of Toe Piece, sc in each st across end of Toe Piece, 8 sc along side of Toe Piece, sc in remaining 17 ch (60 sc). Join with sl st in 1st sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 dc), dc in each sc around. Join with sl st in top st of starting chain (60 dc). 3rd rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each dc around (60 sc). Join. Repeat 2nd, 3rd and 2nd rnds. Next rnd: Ch 1, sc in each dc around, decreasing 5 sc evenly across toe and 3 sc evenly across heel—to dec, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Join. Following rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd of Foot. Repeat last 2 rnds once more. Break off. Sew edges together for sole.

TOP … Attach yarn at center back of ankle and work 48 sc around opening. Join. 1st rnd: Ch 3, * skip 2 sc, shell in next sc, skip 2 sc, dc in next sc. Re­peat from * around, joining last shell with sl st in 3rd st of starting chain. Ch 3, turn. 2nd rnd: * Shell in ch-1 sp of next shell, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. Repeat 2nd rnd 2 more times. Ch 1, turn. Next rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * 5 dc in next shell, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
   Run ½ yard of ribbon in and out around ankle. Tie in bow at front. Make other bootee same as this.
