Filet Crochet Edging Patterns

GENERAL DIRECTIONS FOR FILET CROCHET.

Open Mesh (O M). When worked on a chain work the first d c in 8th ch from hook * ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 d c in next st, repeat from *. Succeeding rows ch 5 to turn and d c in d c, ch 2, d c in next d c, repeat from *.
Solid Mesh (S M). Four double crochet form 1 solid mesh and 3 d c are required for each additional solid mesh. Open mesh and solid mesh are used in Filet Crochet. To increase one mesh at end of row, ch 2, thread over 3 times, insert in base of last d c made, and work off all loops 2 at a time. To increase a mesh at beginning of row, ch 8 to turn and d c in 1st d c.
To decrease a mesh at beginning of row, sl st back over 1st mesh.

Ch 39, d c in 8th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch repeat from * 9 times, ch 5, turn and work back and forth according to diagram and working straight across to corner. Break thread at corner and join in 12th d c of straight edge, continue back and forth following diagram.

1—175 yard Ball will make 1 corner and 4 scallops.

Follow diagram in same manner working back and forth for length desired then work corner, ch 10, turn, d c in 8th st from hook, ch 2, d c in next d c, continue working into side of corner according to diagram and continue all around.

Ch 60, 1 d c in 8th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, repeat from * 7 times, 1 d c in each of the next 9 chs, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, repeat from * 5 times, ch 5, turn, and work up and down according to diagram for length desired.

No. 1894

Ch 18, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 3 chs, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, repeat from * 3 times, ch 5, turn.
2nd Row. D c in d c, 2 d c in mesh, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in next d c, ch 2, 1 d c in each of the next 4 sts, ch 7, turn.
3rd Row. 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 2 chs, d c in d c, ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c, 1 open mesh, 1 solid mesh, 2 open meshes, ch 5, turn and continue up and down according to diagram.

Ch 13, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each of the next 2 chs, * ch 2, skip 2 chs, d c in next ch, repeat from * ch 5, turn and work up and down according to diagram. Work a row of s c around lower edge working a picot at each point of scallop.
