1 ball Black
1 ball Gray
and
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, Article 90, size 5
1 ball White

3 inches narrow Gray Ribbon
3 Hooks and Eyes
1 tiny Flower for Lapel
1-7 or 8 inch boy Doll
9 inches fine Wire.
Steel crochet hook No. 7

JACKET: FRONT-starting at lower center front with Black, ch 2, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row-2 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row-2 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in each of the next 3 s c, ch 14, turn.

4th Row-S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 4 s c, 2 s c in last s c, ch 1 to turn remaining rows.

5th Row-Increase 1 s c at beginning of row.

6th Row-Increase 1 s c at end of row. Repeat the last 2 rows once. Work 2 rows even.

11th Row-Decrease 1 st at the beginning of row (to decrease: * insert hook in next st, pull loop through, repeat from * once, thread over and work off all loops at one time).

12th Row-Decrease 1 st at end of row. Repeat the last 2 rows twice.

17th Row-Decrease 1 st at the beginning of row, 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, ch 1, turn.

18th Row-Decrease 1 s c at end of row.

19th Row-Decrease 1 s c at beginning of row. Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times, cut thread.

Work another section in same manner.

BACK-With Black ch 18, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.

2nd to 9th Rows-1 s c in each s c.

10th Row-Increase 1 s c at the beginning and end of row. Work 1 row even in s c. Repeat the last 2 rows once.

14th Row-Sl st over the 1st 2 sts, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 18 s c, turn.

15th to 23rd Rows-1 s c in each s c, cut thread.

Sew last 4 sts of last row worked to the 4 remaining sts of front section. Sew the 1st 4 sts of opposite side of back section to the 4 sts of other front section. Sew side seams together.

SLEEVES-With Black ch 14, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.

Next 4 rows-Increase 1 s c at the beginning of each row.

Next 14 Rows-1 s c in each s c.

Next 6 Rows-Decrease 1 st at the beginning and end of each row, cut thread. Sew side seams from 1st decreasing point. Sew sleeves to armholes.

LOWER SECTION-With Black ch 6, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows.

2nd Row-1 s c in each of the 1st 4 s c, 3 s c in last s c.

3rd Row-2 s c in 1st s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c.

4th Row-Work in s c to the st before last s c, 2 s d c in last s c (s d c: thread over hook, insert in st, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time). Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times (21 sts). Work 11 rows even in s c, cut thread. Work another section in same manner, do not cut thread at end of last row. Join to last st of last row worked of 1st section, then work 1 s c in each s c of 2nd section.

Next Row-Working across both sections work 1 s c in each s c. Work 4 rows even.

Next Row-Decrease 4 sts evenly spaced. Work 3 rows even, cut thread. Sew last row to lower edge of top of jacket.

COLLAR-With Black ch 58, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row-1 s c in each of the 1st 21 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row-1 s c in each of the 1st 22 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 15 s c, 3 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each remaining s c, ch 1, turn. Work 2 rows even, cut thread. Place collar around neck opening having increasing points at shoulder seams, sew to neck opening.

Button-With Black ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, join, cut thread. Work 2 more buttons in same manner. Sew 1 to front of jacket and 2 at back where jacket is divided. Fasten jacket with hook and eye.

SHIRT DICKY-With White ch 11, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

Next 8 Rows-1 s c in each s c, ch 1 to turn each row.

10th Row-1 s c in each s c, ch 9, turn.

11th Row-S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each s c, ch 9, turn.

12th Row-S c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

13th Row-1 s c in each of the 1st 13 s c, ch 1, turn.

Next 2 Rows-1 s c in each s c, ch 1 to turn each row, cut thread.

Attach White in 1st free st of 12th row and work other side to correspond. Fold back last 3 rows for collar and place on doll. Take about 3 inches of ribbon for tie, knot loosely one end and place in position.

TROUSERS-With Black ch 44, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch working 2 s c in last st, drop Black, attach Gray (when changing color always complete last half of last st with next color), ch 5, turn.

2nd Row-Always carry Black thread in back of work and working over thread, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st, drop Gray, pick up Black, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row-Do not work over Gray, 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

4th Row-1 s c in each s c, drop Black, pick up Gray, ch 1, turn.

5th Row-1 s c in each s c, drop Gray, pick up Black, ch 1, turn.

Repeat the last 3 rows twice, cut Gray at end of last row.

12th Row-1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn.

13th Row-1 s c in each of the 1st 25 s c, drop Black, attach Gray, ch 1, turn.

14th Row-1 s c in each s c, cut Gray, pick up Black, ch 1, turn.

15th Row-1 s c in each s c, cut Black. Work another section in same manner. Place the 2 sections together, sew the last 25 sts worked and the long edges as far as the shaping together.

Work 2 more sections joining in same manner. Sew back and front seams. Place on doll. Sew openings together or fasten with hook and eye.

HAT-With Black ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join this or following rounds. Place a marker at the beginning of each round.

2nd Round-2 s c in each s c.

Next 6 Rounds-Increase 6 sts evenly spaced in each round, do not place increases over each other, join last round only.

9th Round-Working in back loop of sts only, work 1 s c in each s c.

Next 3 Rounds-Working in both loops, work 1 s c in each s c.

Next Round-Decrease 3 sts evenly spaced. Work 1 round even. Repeat the last 2 rounds twice, join last round, turn.

Next Round-Working in back loop of sts only, increase 12 s c evenly spaced, do not join this or following rounds.

Next Round-Working in both loops of sts, work even in s c.

Next Round-Increase in every 3rd st. Work 1 round even, ending round with sl st, turn.

Next Round-Working over fine wire work 1 s c in each s c, join, cut thread.
