Rose Circle Doily Pattern

MATERIALS—DAISY Mercerized Crochet cotton size 30:—1-ball Lt. Green and a partial ball each of Emerald Green and Shd. Yellows. Crochet hook size 13. Size—15"

CENTER—In Lt, Green, ch 10, sl st in 1st st. Ch 3, 23 dc in ring, sl st in 1st ch-3. (Ch 25, sc in next dc) 24 times. Fasten off on back. ROW 3—Sc in one lp, ch 3, 2 dc in same lp, * (ch 7, 3 dc in next lp) 23 times, ch 3, dc in top of 1st ch-3. * ROW 4—Ch 3, 2 dc in lp formed by last ch-3 and dc. Repeat from * to * in Row 3. ROWS 5 & 6—Repeat for 2 rows with ch-9 lps, and final lp of ch-4 and tr. ROW 7—Make ch-11 lps, with ch-5 and tr end lp. ROW 8—Ch 5, holding back on hook the last lp of each tr, make 3 tr in last tr, thread over and pull thru all lps on hook (a Cluster made) (ch 14, a 4-tr Cluster in center st of next lp) repeated around. Join with sl st in 1st Cluster. ROW 9—Sl st to 2d ch of next lp, ch 5, a 3-tr Cluster in same st, (ch 10, a 4-tr Cluster in 2d ch st from left end of same lp, ch 3, a Cluster in 2d ch of next lp) repeated around. Join final ch-3 to 1st Cluster. ROW 10—Sl st to 2d ch of next lp, ch 5, a 3-tr Cluster in same st, * ch 8, a 4-tr Cluster in 2d ch from left end of same lp, ch 3, a Cluster in next ch-3 sp between Clusters, ch 3, a Cluster in 2d ch of next lp. Repeat from * around and join. ROW 11—Make 4 Clusters in each group (ch-3 between Clusters), with ch-6 between groups. ROW 12—Make a Cluster in 2d and 5th chs of each ch-6 lp and in each ch-3 sp, with ch-3 between all Clusters. ROW 13—Sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 5, a 3-tr Cluster in same sp, * (ch 3, a 4-tr Cluster in next sp) twice, ** ch 5, a Cluster in next sp, (ch 3, a Cluster in next sp) 4 times. Repeat from ** around and join. ROW 14—Repeat last row to *. Ch 3, a 4-tr Cluster in next sp, * ch 10, sk ch-5 sp, a Cluster in next ch-3 sp, (ch 3, a Cluster in next sp) 3 times. Repeat from * around and join. ROW 15—Repeat Row 13 to *. ** Ch 8, tr in next lp, ch 8, a Cluster between next 2 Clusters, (ch 3, a Cluster in next sp) twice. Repeat from ** around and join. ROW 16—Ch 1, turn, sl st in last sp. Ch 5, turn, a 3-tr Cluster in same sp, * (ch 8, tr in next lp) twice, ch 8, a 4-tr Cluster between next 2 Clusters, ch 3, a Cluster in next sp. Repeat from * around and join. ROW 17—Repeat last row to *. ** (ch 8, tr in next lp) 3 times, ch 8, a 4-tr Cluster between next 2 Clusters. Repeat from ** round. End with ch-4, tr in 1st Cluster. ROW 18—(Ch 6, a 3-tr Cluster in 1st st, tr in next lp) repeated around and join. Fasten off.

ROSE—In Shd. Yellows, (ch 8, dtr in 1st st drawing it up to same length as ch-8) 8 times. (Ch 6, tr in 1st st) 8 times. (Ch 4, dc in 1st st) 8 times. (Ch 2, 5 dc over bar of dc, ch 2, sl st between dc lps) 8 times. (Ch 2, 1 dc, 7 tr and 1 dc all in next tr lp, ch 2, sl st between lps) 8 times. (Ch 2, 1 dc, 1 tr, 7 dtr, 1 tr and 1 dc all in next dtr lp, ch 2, sl st between lps) 8 times. Fasten off. Starting at small end, coil row around and around into a rose (4 rows around) and tack. In Cream, (ch 10, tr tr in 1st st, drawing it up to same length as ch-10) 8 times. (Ch 2, 1 dc, 1 tr, 2  dtr, 9 tr tr, 2 dtr, 1 tr and 1 dc all in tr tr lp, ch 2, sl st between lps) 8 times. Fasten off. Tack around Rose for final row of petal. Cut a circle of "Iron-On Tape" and attach on back to hold petals securely. Make 12 Roses and tack one by 2 petals to 3 Clusters above every other point around "Center."

LEAF—In Emerald, ch 23, sc in 2d ch, * ch 3 and working into every 3d ch, dc in next 3d ch, ch 3, tr in next 3d ch, (ch 3, dtr in next 3d ch) twice, ch 3, tr in next 3d ch, ch 3, dc in next 3d ch, ch 3, * (dc, ch 4, dc) in end ch. Repeat from * to * on other side of ch. Sl st in 1st sc. Ch 3, (3 dc in next sp, 1 dc in next st, ch 4, sl st in last dc for a p) repeated around, with (3 dc, a p and 3 dc) in ch-4 sp at tip. Join to 1st ch-3, ch 11, sk last ch, sc in 10 ch, sl st in next st and fasten off. Make 12 and tack between Roses.

Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in a true circle. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
